After a restless night in the forest, the party assaulted the Thorn River Camp. In spite of an ambush the party was able to dispatch most of the bandits, including the infamous Kressle.
The sole survivor, a foreigner by the name of Jiang Weisheng, quickly surrendered the bandits’ cache of loot and the pass phrase for the Stag Lord’s fort. Like the survivors of the ambush at Oleg’s Trading Post, Jian swore oath to the Charter in exchange for his life. Burke decided he would be of more use back at the Trading Post and took Jian and the loot north.
Jian proved a wealth of information. He gave Bronin a lead on her lost cousin, Yolan, who was apparently with an adventuring company calling themselves the Black Banners. By coincidence, the Black Banners were only a few hours ahead of the Charter, traveling west toward a druid grove.
Jian also implied that Svetlana’s ring was most likely with a tribe of mites living to the southeast.
The former bandit also suggested that the party might make a pretty penny trying to sell a case of absinthe to the Stag Lord, as he hadn’t received a shipment of his favorite liquor in quite some time.
From the camp the Charter members went on a wild chase through the forest, finding riddles on an ancient druid altar, making friends with a beautiful nixie, managing not to rile an irritable- and huge- badger, watching one of the Banners get killed by angry wasps, and tracking a treacherous goblin to the last piece of Narven’s Panoply.
All in all, a very busy day.
